We are looking for an enthusiastic Certified Prosthetist, whose goal is to deliver state-of-the-art fittings and service to clinical partners and users for our cutting-edge assistive technology. Open Bionics is a start-up and you will be the first clinician hired in the USA. The company has ambitious growth plans, which will enable you to grow your experience, skills and responsibilities along with the company. We are looking for a highly passionate individual who believes that innovative prosthetic solutions can change users’ life.

Candidates should be willing to travel extensively around the USA.

Role Specification

This clinical role is perfect for a CPO who wants to work with children and pioneer a ground-breaking new technology. The role will be truly centred around creating the best possible clinical outcomes for clinicians and prosthetic users adopting Open Bionics products and technology. The best candidate will have a drive to improve the industry by helping the less fortunate, and those without the most premium healthcare insurances get access to the best prosthetic care and technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Educating and certifying prosthetic care providers (prosthetic clinics, VA centres, civil hospital, hand therapy centres…) on the Hero Arm fitting process.
  • Reviewing potential users’ eligibility to the Hero Arm and supporting trials with clinical partners when required.
  • Coordinating clinical input to ease the adoption rate, prescription and funding application of the Hero Arm.
  • Providing internal clinical input to Open Bionics developers on product development on both hardware and software products. Testing new versions or products considering the expected clinical benefits for both clinicians and users. Contributing to create and maintain documentation for clinicians and end-users.
  • Active participation to relevant consumer or trade shows, exhibitions and conferences including supporting booth activities, workshops and communications.
  • Contribution to clinical research projects/publications aiming to reinforce the clinical value and benefits of the solutions developed by Open Bionics.

A successful first year at Open Bionics would include:

  • Meeting, training and certifying a minimum of 60 clinicians.
  • Contribute to increasing the adoption rate of the product by users and clinics.
  • Publish a minimum of 1 case study on the Hero Arm and contribute to a minimum of 1 oral communication during a consumer talk, trade show, or a conference.

Person Scorecard

  • 2-3 years minimum experience with upper limb prosthetic fittings (including myoelectric/bionic hand fittings).
  • Strong clinical deontology with an understanding of Open Bionics vision.
  • Evidence of creative skills to develop appealing case-study showing the specific benefits/competitive advantage of the Hero Arm.
  • Understanding of funding challenges for functional upper limb prosthetic in the US market.
  • Desire to work nationwide in the USA and be able to travel regularly, which can often be alone.
  • Shows enthusiasm in working for a start-up company.
