We are looking for a highly passionate individual who believes that innovative prosthetic solutions can enhance users’ quality of life. As our Upper Limb Prosthetist, your goal is to deliver state-of-the-art prostheses and services to clinical partners and users of our cutting-edge assistive technology.

The Hero Arm is a powered multi-articulating and multi-grip prosthetic arm suitable for adults, adolescents and children. With ambitious growth plans, this role will enable you to grow your experience, skills and responsibilities along with the company.

Your role will be to fit Open Bionics’ customers with Hero Arms and provide the full workflow of building and fitting check-sockets, including the delivery of training to new Hero Arm users so they make the most out of their prosthesis.

You will already have the highest standards of customer service along with the potential to specialise in upper limb prosthetics, as you will eventually be expected to manage your own clinic. You will ultimately command an excellent understanding of the Hero Arm and become an ambassador for the company. As this is a high responsibility level position, you should be serious about applying and have the drive and passion to lead the industry forward with new ideas.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering the highest standard of clinical services to Open Bionics customers in accordance with our core values.
  • Providing training and ongoing support for Hero Arm users on using their upper limb prosthesis to achieve certain activities of daily living and personal goals.
  • Educating and certifying prosthetic care providers on the Hero Arm fitting process.
  • Tracking performance via customer feedback, metrics and data from our ERP system to make smart decisions for growth.
  • Reviewing potential users’ eligibility to the Hero Arm and supporting trials with clinical partners when required.
  • Coordinating clinical input to ease the adoption rate, prescription and funding application of the Hero Arm.
  • Providing internal clinical input to Open Bionics developers on product development on both hardware and software products. Testing new versions or products considering the expected clinical benefits for both clinicians and users. Contributing to create and maintain documentation for clinicians and end-users.
  • Active participation in relevant consumer or trade shows, exhibitions and conferences including supporting booth activities, workshops and communications.
  • Contribution to clinical research projects/publications aiming to reinforce the clinical value and benefits of the solutions developed by Open Bionics.
  • Taking an active role in research and development projects of new technologies that aid clinicians.
  • Providing a patient-centered approach to upper limb prosthetic rehabilitation and continuous support to Hero Arm users.

A successful first six months at Open Bionics would include:

  • Developing a sustainable and efficient clinical workflow/pipeline, in conjunction with Open Bionics’ UK clinic.

  • Evidence-based practice approach to patient care with a demonstrable understanding of Open Bionics’ vision.
  • Proficient with methods of shape capture and rectification (experience with 3D scanning technologies and digital rectification platforms is preferred).
  • Ability to outline an appropriate prosthetic prescription for those upper limb absence and evidence of creative problem solving.
  • Must be certified by either the Board of Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC) or by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) as Prosthetist or Orthotist/Prosthetist.
